Content Delivery Solutions

What is a Content Delivery Network (CDN)?
A content delivery network (CDN) is a collection of servers distributed across multiple locations to deliver content more efficiently to users. The server selected for delivering content to a specific user is typically based on a measure of network proximity. For example, the server with the fewest network hops or the server with the quickest response time is chosen.

Content Delivery Network Control Panel

Do I get a CDN Control Panel, can I check it out ?

StrikeTracker is a Rich Internet Application (RIA) that provides a single, integrated front-end control console for managing all of the CDN services that Highwinds provides.

From the StrikeTracker console, you can manage your content, review network usage and billing data, provision sub-accounts, manage your users, provision live stream publishing points, and control all of your account configuration options.

No other CDN offers this level of hands-on authority over their system.

StrikeTracker’s command and control functionality enables you to directly control all of the standard CDN services in real time, and it supports several features unique to StrikeTracker and to the industry. For example, you can provision accounts; upload, manage and delete files; and create live stream publishing points – all in real time and all through the StrikeTracker console.

Here are a couple of screenshots of the control panel:

What is “Edge Storage” ?

Edge storage is the storage present on every POP the CDN has, your data is replicated to all POP’s and it’s instantly accessible for users nearby, Edge storage is not a “permanent storage” solution, we reserve the right to flush data that has not been accessed for a month, this process is important to keep the Edge storage FREE and clear of unused clutter.

What is “Origin Pull” ?

Origin Pull is the process by which the CDN can obtains the files to be served from your storage, the first time a visitor accesses your site, the CDN loads the files from your site or storage location and delivers it to the visitor, it then caches the files on the CDN for the subsequent visitors and wont need to grab it from your storage location anymore, the CDN will keep the files up to 7 days until it was last accessed.

Can I use it with multiple sites ?

Yes, you can pull the CDN data from multiple locations, including different websites and servers.

Do you support Video Streaming ?
Yes, we support Flash & Windows Media streaming (Live & on-demand)
